Wrestling Coach Resigns From Calvary Chapel
John Azevedo, whose Santa Ana Calvary Chapel High wrestling teams won a record seven state championships, said he is leaving to become an assistant coach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
In 12 years under Azevedo, Calvary Chapel was 168-17 in dual matches, including a 105-match winning streak. They have won five of the last six state championships and produced 13 individual state champions.
