New Math a Challenge for Statistics-Minded
People say L.A. is different, and I agree. But something special happened in the Sunday sports pages. Only in L.A. could Jim Thome go nine for 12 and bat .667. I believe this establishes an all-time record for lowest batting average by a player going nine for 12. Or perhaps for the greatest number of hits in 12 at-bats by player batting .667 over that span. Or perhaps both.
