Man, 80, Killed in Truck Crash
An 80-year-old man died Friday in a crash in Agua Dulce when a truck driven by his grandson slammed into a trash truck and burst into flames.
Anselmo Rubalcaba of Agua Dulce died in the fire, which occurred about 7:40 a.m. on Davenport Road, officials said.
The grandson, Raudel Duran, 28, of Mission Hills, was pulled from the wreckage by Waste Management driver Roberto Sanchez, but Rubalcaba was pinned inside and could not be saved, officials said.
Sanchez, who had stopped on the shoulder of the road, was dumping trash into the truck’s front bin when Duran, who was driving east, was momentarily blinded by the sun and crashed into the trash truck, authorities said.
“It basically took out the whole right side of [Duran’s truck],” California Highway Patrol Officer Ed Corugedo said.
