Activists have mobilized a protest against a proposed Santa Barbara County landfill. A rally was set for this morning at Ryon Park.
The protest focuses on a decision by the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors to close the south county’s Tajiguas landfill in 15 years. The county is considering 73 proposed sites for a new dump; 34 of them are in north county.
“I am not against landfill,” organizer Lorin Bronson said. “I am against having other people dump on or near my town, especially when their dump is adequate.”
