More Marijuana Seized on Palomar Mountain
Times Staff and Wire Reports
Authorities said Friday that more marijuana was found growing on the slopes of Palomar Mountain, bringing the total number of plants uprooted at the remote site to more than 100,000.
The bust was by far the largest in the 22-year history of the county’s eradication efforts and is the largest marijuana farm found in California this year, said San Diego County Sheriff’s Lt. Bill Baxter.
No arrests have been made. Several people fled when sheriff’s deputies entered the area July 9 and officers were unable to pursue them over the rugged terrain.
