Rodman Accuser Wins Award; Trial Likely
A woman who said she was raped by Dennis Rodman was awarded $225,000 by a court-appointed arbitrator, but the former NBA star is expected to demand a trial.
Tina New said she met Rodman at a Newport Beach nightclub Aug. 20, 1999. She accused him of drugging and raping her. Her lawyer, Stephen Tornay, said she filed a complaint with Newport Beach police 10 days after the incident, but it was too late to collect physical evidence. Rodman was never charged.
Rodman’s lawyer denied the attack ever took place. The arbitration award is nonbinding, and Rodman’s attorney said they will take the case to trial, Tornay said.
