EEOC Sues Wal-Mart Over Harassment Claims

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world’s largest retailer, is being sued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission over allegations of sexual harassment of female workers in Alabama.
The lawsuit alleges the retailer violated a federal civil rights law when it failed to prevent the sexual harassment of women by a co-worker at the company’s Mobile store.
The EEOC has filed more than a dozen lawsuits against Wal-Mart, many for alleged violations of the Americans With Disabilities Act.
The Bentonville, Ark., retail chain has denied showing bias against employees.
Wal-Mart shares rose 5 cents to close at $54.28 on the NYSE.
