Murder Charges Filed for Slayings at State Park

Murder charges were filed Thursday against a man accused of shooting a boy and his uncle over a parking space at a state beach campground.
Prosecutors charged Stephen Deflaun, 42, with two counts of murder in the deaths of Stephen D. Wells, 37, and Jerry Rios Jr., 11, who were killed Sunday at Morro Strand State Beach in Morro Bay.
If convicted, Deflaun could face the death penalty. His arraignment was scheduled for today.
