Orbitz, the Internet travel site owned by five U.S. airlines, rocketed to fifth place among the most popular travel sites in its first full week of operation (June 4 to 10), then dropped to No. 8 in its second week, according to statistics from Jupiter Media Matrix, which monitors traffic on the Internet.
For the week ending June 17, https://www.orbitz.com drew nearly 900,000 visitors--more than https://www.hotwire.com but below https://www.americanexpress.com (about 3.5 million), https://www.travelocity.com (about 2.6 million) and Expedia Travel (an aggregate of domains, including https://www.expedia.com, at nearly 2.2 million).
