The city is recruiting volunteers to advise the City Council on child-care issues.
The Irvine Child Care Committee needs two people to help the group review child-care trends, consider proposed child-care centers and host educational forums and workshops for child-care professionals in the city.
The committee, which works to promote affordable and high-quality child care in the community, also would coordinate the annual “Day in the Park” event this year to celebrate the National Assn. for the Education of Young Children.
Applicants must live or work in the city and be willing to serve a two-year term on the committee. Committee meetings are the second Tuesday of the month from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in Irvine.
Applications are available from the Community Services Department at the Irvine Civic Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza, and must be received or postmarked by 5 p.m. Jan. 22. Information: (949) 724-6648.
