8 Killed in Holiday Traffic Accidents

Eight people were killed in county traffic accidents during the first day of the Christmas holiday, the California Highway Patrol said.
A total of 33 people statewide died in auto accidents between 6 a.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to the CHP.
In the same period last year, 30 people were killed on California’s streets and highways, six of them in Los Angeles County, the CHP reported.
The CHP reported 1,317 drunk driving arrests during the first day of the Christmas holiday this year, 295 of them in Los Angeles County.
