Final top 10 for the 2001 girls’ golf season:
1. Long Beach Wilson (SS-Moore)
Most consistent team in the region from the beginning of the season to the end.
2. Peninsula (SS-Bay)
Solid lineup top to bottom, Panthers were a contender at every postseason event.
3. Dana Hills (SS-South Coast)
Had breakthrough round at the right time and won Southern Section title.
4. Palm Desert (SS-Desert Valley)
Aztecs proved what everyone assumed: they play good golf in the desert.
5. Marina (SS-Sunset)
Top-ranked team for most of the season had disappointing section final.
6. Camarillo (SS-Pacific View)
Scorpions will be a force next year: top six players returning.
7. Dos Pueblos (SS-Channel)
Sara Trenschel’s third place at individual finals proves Chargers were for real.
8. Esperanza (SS-Sunset)
Aztecs may have peaked too early: No player broke 80 in the postseason.
9. Villa Park (SS-Century)
Scrappy Spartans kept showing up on leader boards throughout the season.
10. Redondo Union (SS-Ocean)
SeaHawks wondering what might have been if scoring rules hadn’t changed.
