Resident Rescues Tree Although House Burns
From Times Staff Reports
A single-story home was seriously damaged by fire Monday morning, but the resident escaped uninjured and even managed to save her Christmas tree, authorities said.
The Orange County Fire Authority is investigating the blaze in the 2500 block of Sunset Place. “It pretty well gutted the house,” Fire Authority spokesman Stephen Miller said.
Firefighters had the blaze under control in about half an hour. Damage was estimated at $150,000 to the structure and $75,000 to the furnishings.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.
