An Independent Woman
I am a 33-year-old professional. I am in sales, so I travel alone for work as well as for pleasure. I enjoy traveling alone, but most of my friends don’t understand why. I identify with Susan Spano’s Her World column. It also provides me with the titles of books about women adventurers.
It has always amazed me that men and other women are offended or confused by my independence. I can go about my business quietly and not intrude in others’ lives yet be the cause of their unease. I see that it is the price that, oddly, one pays as an independent woman.
