CNN Cancels 3 Shows, Cuts 30 Jobs
AOL Time Warner Inc.’s Cable News Network said it is canceling three of its shows and cutting about 30 jobs.
CNN is canceling the weekday shows “Burden of Proof” and “NewsSite” and the weekend show “Showbiz This Week,” spokeswoman Christa Robinson said.
The jobs of about 10 on-air staffers and 20 other employees will be eliminated.
“Burden of Proof” host Roger Cossack, “NewsSite” host Joie Chen and “Showbiz This Week” host Bill Tush will lose their jobs, CNN spokesman Matthew Furman said.
Earlier this year, CNN cut about 400 jobs, or 9% of its staff, in a reorganization of its news operations.
Also Friday, CNN’s sister company, TNT Originals West Coast, announced a restructuring that will result in the elimination of an unspecified number of jobs.
Atlanta-based CNN has struggled in the last year as its audience ratings at times lagged rivals.
