Self-Serving Their God and Country?

Just when I began to believe that President Bush wasn’t as inept as I have always thought him to be, he ruins it all (“Bush Lauds Aid Workers the Taliban Jailed,” Nov. 27). What drivel, calling the two Christian aid workers returned from Afghanistan “courageous souls” saved by prayer during three months in prison.
Why do they think that their religion is better than Islam? Did the Afghans invite them to come to their country to talk the people into becoming Christians? I don’t think so. Most of the wars in the history of the world have been about people hating each other because the other person was of a different religion. Is this never going to end?
After Bush thanked them for being so true to their faith and complimented them for their joy in showing no bitterness, they did what all do-gooders do--they went shopping for an agent and new clothes.
Thank goodness we have three men (Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Colin Powell and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld) who work endlessly to fight this war on terrorism. They don’t spend the time on nonsensical meetings with people who are only interested in themselves.
