Snowmobile Ban Takes Effect in Tahoe Area

“It’s unfortunate, but there’s not much we can do about it,” said Dave Greenleaf of the Mount Rose Snowmobile Alliance, which fought to maintain snowmobile access to Tahoe Meadows.
He blamed the crackdown on “bad apple” snowmobilers who sped too close to cross-country skiers, violated wilderness boundaries and broke other rules.
But a group of winter sports enthusiasts hailed the ban, saying snowmobiles were dangerous and incompatible with quieter sports.
