A Washington state man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault on a 14-year-old boy, authorities said Monday.
Todd Douglas Gordon, 38, of Puyallup, Wash., was arrested about 1 a.m. on North Puente Street, said Capt. Douglas Dickerson, a spokesman for the Brea Police Department.
Investigators said Gordon, a truck driver, is suspected of luring the boy into his semitrailer and assaulting him.
“The boy was visiting Southern California from Oregon and staying with his uncle and aunt,” Dickerson said. “He just went along with them to work.”
The boy had accompanied his Apple Valley-based aunt and uncle--who also are truckers--to a stop where several rigs were parked. His relatives did not confront the suspect; instead, they called police, Dickerson said.
Investigators have evidence against Gordon in addition to the boy’s statement, Dickerson said, but he would not release details. Gordon has been convicted in Washington of “indecent sexual liberties,” Dickerson said.
