TRW Inc. named as chief financial officer Robert Swan, who as chief executive shut down Internet grocer Webvan Group Inc. earlier this month.
Swan joined Webvan in October 1999 after 14 years at General Electric Co., where he served as chief financial officer of General Electric’s GE Lighting unit and held other financial jobs at GE Medical Systems and GE Transportation Systems. Swan was named Webvan’s chief executive in April. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection July 13 after shutting down operations.
At TRW, Swan replaces Carl Miller, who said in April that he would retire. Shares of TRW rose 8 cents to $44.25 on the NYSE.
