Sylmar Piles Up Capital Gains at Washington Behind Valdez
John Valdez completed 14 of 22 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns and Sylmar High defeated Washington, 49-0, in a nonleague game Friday afternoon at Washington.
Valdez, who had one pass intercepted, threw all of the touchdown passes in the first half as Sylmar took 21-0 advantage after the first quarter and 35-0 at halftime.
Two scoring passes went to Donnell Livingston, who had three receptions for 90 yards.
Sylmar (4-0), ranked No. 5 in the region by The Times, out-gained Washington 416 yards to 144 despite a running clock in the fourth quarter.
Ligor Thompson had 49 yards in six carries and scored on runs of three and 12 yards.
James Pringle ran for an 11-yard touchdown and finished with 25 yards in four carries, and Napoleon Kimble carried twice for 19 yards, scoring on a three-yard run.
Jaquon Morrison of Washington (0-4) had six carries for 48 yards, five catches for 32 yards and intercepted a pass.
