* Virgil C. Burton; 74-Year County Resident
Virgil C. Burton, a retired ranch foreman, died Tuesday in Oxnard after a brief illness. He was 92.
Burton was born Nov. 1, 1907, in Donaldson, Ark., and had been a county resident for the past 74 years.
He retired after 45 years as foreman at the Everett Ranch in Moorpark, the Borchard Ranch in Camarillo and the Pope Ranch in Somis.
He enjoyed baseball, football and gardening.
Active with Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, he served on the board of deacons for 12 years and taught adult Bible study classes on Sundays for 14 years.
He was preceded in death by Alma, his wife of 66 years; three brothers; and two sisters.
Burton is survived by a brother, Wayne S. Burton of Pasadena, and 17 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at Pierce Bros. Griffin Mortuary Chapel in Camarillo. A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will follow at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church building fund in Camarillo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Bros. Griffin Mortuary in Camarillo.
