Critic Nicolai Ouroussoff’s fierce diatribe against the proposed design and layout of the World War II Memorial (“Sound the Retreat,” Sept. 20) was a clear case of subjective opinion veering into aesthetic authoritarianism. His litany of architectural precedents and negative associations to the rather innocuous design--my opinion, thanks--were both tedious and trite.
His caustic remarks display an oddly contorted predisposition, one whose case is not met or justified by either the computer-photos or his prose.
