A plan to add a second story to a historic home on Park Place has been sent to the City Council with a recommendation for approval.
The Planning Commission voted 4 to 1 on Wednesday to approve the plan. Commissioner Kirk Nakamura cast the no vote.
The project was originally submitted to the city in December but was delayed several times by neighbors who said the addition would hurt the historical integrity of the neighborhood.
The City Council in March approved a conditional-use permit and variance for the addition, but it asked the commission to consider whether the 80-year-old house could be enlarged without a second floor. The council is expected to take final action soon.
