The City Council will interview five candidates for the city manager post at a special meeting Oct. 6.
The candidates, narrowed from a field of 66 applicants, come from southern and central California, Interim City Manager Dan Miller said Monday.
Yorba Linda has been looking for a city manager since June, when a $231,000 settlement agreement severed ties with former City Manager Arthur C. Simonian, who had been on paid administrative leave.
The city had sued Simonian, trying to recover as much as $300,000 in unauthorized bonuses he allegedly paid himself during his 27-year tenure with the city. Simonian, who denied any wrongdoing, sued the city to clear his name and get his job back.
