WESTMINSTER
Trustees of the Westminster School District voted 3-1 last week to appoint Jim Reed to the board, replacing Sondra Harvey, who stepped down from her seat in July because she moved out of the district.
Reed was sworn in during the meeting, after he announced his resignation from the district’s Personnel Commission, on which he served for about three years.
Board President Nancy L. Blumenthal voted against Reed’s appointment.
At the end of the meeting, board member Lynn Covey resigned. Covey, who served on the board for six years, said her decision was based on personal and professional reasons.
Trustees will decide at their next meeting, scheduled Oct. 5, whether to appoint another member or hold a special election.
