The City Council last week approved an agreement to contract with the county’s animal services department through December 2001.
Under the terms of the contract, the county will continue picking up stray and injured animals, investigating cruelty charges and reported attacks, and attempting to license all dogs over 4 months old within the city.
The city will be billed by the county based on the percentage of services used in Rancho, compared with other municipalities using county animal control.
The city has budgeted $72,563 for animal services in the 2000-01 budget.
