David Gober
Western, Football
Gober scored five touchdowns, two rushing and three receiving, in a 63-25 nonleague victory Friday over El Toro, ranked 10th in Division II. He caught passes of 32, 43 and 15 yards for touchdowns and scored on runs of three and 10 yards. Gober, a 5-foot-10, 180-pound senior, also had one interception. He caught five passes for 130 yards and rushed 11 times for 146 yards for the Pioneers, who had 490 total yards of offense.

San Clemente, Water polo
Hewko scored the game-winning goal with less than five seconds remaining to beat No. 3 Villa Park, 11-10.
* Raemon Rodriguez
Marina, Cross-Country
Rodriguez was the overall winner at the Sunny Hills Invitational, covering the three-mile course at Clark Park in 15:37.
Claire Kim
Sunny Hills, Cross-Country
Kim won both the freshman and overall girls’ titles at the Sunny Hills Invitational on Saturday, covering the three-mile course at Clark Park in 18 minutes 59 seconds. She finished three seconds in front of senior runner Diana Hossfeld of Corona del Mar, which won the team title. The invitational featured runners from more than 40 large and small schools who competed at the senior, junior, sophomore and freshman levels.

Laguna Beach, Volleyball
Salem had 17 kills to help unranked Laguna Beach upset No. 5 Newport Harbor, 15-10, 15-6, 12-15, 15-6.
* Chloe Cox
Newport Harbor, Field Hockey
Cox had eight saves this week to help Newport Harbor defeat Fountain Valley, 3-0, and Edison, 3-0.
