LAPD’s Kalish Is Named a Deputy Chief
LOS ANGELES — David Kalish, who has headed the Los Angeles Police Department’s community affairs group since 1997, was promoted Tuesday to deputy chief in charge of the department’s Operations-West Bureau.
Police Chief Bernard Parks said the 25-year veteran “was specifically selected for the critical positions because of his intellect, wisdom, experience and his incredibly high level of integrity.”
Kalish will be replaced by Cmdr. Sharon Papa, who is currently assigned to the Operations-Central Bureau. Papa joined the force three years ago, a department spokesman said.
Kalish, who will lead operations in the department’s Hollywood, Wilshire, Pacific and West Los Angeles divisions effective Sept. 24, has a master’s degree in public administration from USC.
