City officials will hold a drawing to pick eight applicants for a program designed to help residents with down payments on their first home.
The city will award up to $25,000 in deferred loans to the selected applicants, who must put up 5% of the cost of the home on their own. The loans will be deferred for the duration of the mortgage or until the owner sells the house.
Applications for the program will become available Sept. 21 and may be turned in from Sept. 26 through Oct. 6. All applications will be screened and those who qualify for the program will be entered into the drawing to be held Oct. 18 in the Community Room at City Hall, 401 E. Chapman Ave., Placentia.
