Saint Joseph Church in Placentia will display a digital, life-size copy of the icon of Our Lady of Guadalupe, housed in the Basilica of Mexico City. The replica has been traveling from parish to parish within the Catholic Diocese of Orange County.
The original 469-year-old impression, seemingly stamped in the coarse fabric worn by an Aztec man, has survived many natural and man-made catastrophes, including fires and a bomb blast, church officials said.
The replica will be displayed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Sept. 19, at the church, 717 N. Bradford Ave.
