Danziger Cartoon

Re Jeff Danziger’s Aug. 30 cartoon, “What?! Gore edges up in the Florida polls?”: I looked at this political cartoon for a long time after I had “gotten it.” And the more I looked, the worse it became. We all know that sometimes people who already have adequate means still clamor for more, more. But unfortunately there appears to be more, more to this cartoon also: Are all the retirees in Florida really Jews with selfish attitudes and nasty faces to match?

Is this cartoon anti-Semitic? Yes, it is. This isn’t even subtle. It’s blatant and strong. There is a fine but clear line between satire and negative stereotype.
