Plane Crash Near Lake Tahoe Kills 4
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. — A small plane crashed after takeoff just south of Lake Tahoe near Myers on Friday, killing all four people on board.
The single-engine Piper Malibu barely missed some houses and caught fire when it crashed within a mile of the end of the runway at the South Lake Tahoe Airport, the El Dorado County sheriff’s office said.
No names were released, but authorities said the victims were two males and two females who appeared to be from the area.
The plane was taking off shortly after 3:30 p.m. when it made a turn and came within 25 feet of a house before crashing, KOLO-TV reported.
The flames burned within 10 feet of the back of one house, the Tahoe Daily Tribune reported.
No other details were immediately available. The crash was under investigation.
