Hudson Gossard of Crescenta Valley has set school passing records with 1,959 yards and 24 touchdowns this season, but he would like to forget the final play of Friday’s 31-28 Pacific League loss at Muir.
Just like he forgot the timeout situation.
With Crescenta Valley (7-1, 3-1) at the Muir six-yard line in the final seconds, Gossard, thinking he had another timeout, searched for an open receiver or a seam to scramble for extra yardage. However, when he was sacked at the Muir 10, he quickly realized the Falcons had no timeouts left and the clock ran out.
“I tried to make something out of nothing when I should have thrown the ball away to stop the clock,” said Gossard, who passed for 332 yards and three touchdowns with five interceptions.
