MICHAEL VICK
Quarterback, Virginia Tech
Will the Hokies’ 37-34 victory over Pittsburgh without Vick hurt his Heisman chances? Before spraining his ankle in the first half, the sophomore rushed for 35 yards and passed for 80, but didn’t account for a touchdown.
Season: 96 carries, 584 yards, 9 TDs
69 of 133, 1,023 yards, 6 TDs
Next: at No. 4 Miami, Saturday
LADAINIAN TOMLINSON
Running Back, TCU
Lost in the hoopla of the Horned Frogs now owning the nation’s longest winning streak (12 games), Tomlinson rushed 41 times for 200 yards in a 37-0 rout of Rice to bolster his campaign.
Season: 236 carries, 1,293 yards, 15 TDs
Next: at San Jose State, Saturday
CHRIS WEINKE
Quarterback, Florida State
The Seminoles went into Raleigh, N.C., and dismantled No. 21 North Carolina State, 58-14, but it wasn’t Weinke leading the charge. The senior completed a meager 13 of 21 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown.
Season: 193 of 308, 2,968 yards, 23 TDs
Next: No. 5 Clemson, Saturday
DREW BREES
Quarterback, Purdue
Few will remember the four interceptions after Brees rallied the Boilermakers to a 31-27 win over Ohio State by completing 39 of 65 attempts for 455 yards. Purdue smells roses and Brees might be smelling Heisman.
Season: 240 of 400, 2,898 yards, 22 TDs
Next: at Michigan State, Nov. 11
