Yorba Linda just got tougher on enforcing local building codes.
The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to impose fines on those found in violation of city or state building codes and ordinances.
First-time offenders will be fined $100, but subsequent penalties could be as high as $500 each--plus administrative fines--for anyone owning property or a business that fails to comply with ordinances related to building, plumbing, electrical or other structural or zoning issues.
Anyone alerted to an infraction will be given 30 days to correct the problem before an administrative citation and fine are imposed.
The policy includes a procedure for appealing the citation through an administrative process. Information: (714) 961-7100.
