The city received a $500,000 check from the state Wednesday to expand child care services and fund improvements at Jerome Park and Community Center. City officials had asked Assemblyman Lou Correa (D-Anaheim) and Sen. Joe Dunn (D-Santa Ana) to help them get $2 million from the state for the improvements. Correa and Dunn were able to secure $250,000 each.
The park, at 726 S. Center St., is in the central core of the city and serves about 45,000 residents.
