Grant 35, Verdugo Hills 15--Perry Clayton had 169 yards in 13 carries and scored on runs of five and 52 yards for Grant (3-3) at Verdugo Hills.
Alfonso Estrada completed 12 of 19 passes for 167 yards and two touchdowns. Eric Szubota had five catches for 95 yards and scored on a seven-yard reception.
Verdugo Hills (0-6) claimed a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on Kyle Mugavero’s one-yard run.
Grant tied the score, 7-7, in the second quarter when Estrada connected with Nick Isaak on a 32-yard reception.
The Lancers, who scored on their four second-half possessions, took the lead for good on Clayton’s five-yard run early in the third quarter.
Michael Cloud of Verdugo Hills carried 15 times for 111 yards and scored on a three-yard run in the fourth quarter.
