Tera-Point to Launch Fixed-Wireless Service
Tera-Point Wireless, a subsidiary of Universal City-based ESat Inc., today will launch fixed-wireless broadband service for businesses in the Los Angeles region.
The Tera-Point network provides high-speed Internet access using a network of antennas. The service will compete with existing fixed-wireless carriers such as Teligent and Winstar, as well as with new broadband offerings that use satellite, such as those offered by Tachyon Inc. and Net-36.
Unlike those competitors, however, Tera-Point said it plans to eventually expand into the residential market.
