USC Water Polo Team Gains At-Large Berth

USC received an at-large bid Monday for the four-team NCAA men’s water polo championships, which begin Saturday at Pepperdine.
The Trojans (20-6) are the second-seeded team behind defending champion UCLA (17-7). USC plays third-seeded UC San Diego (20-8) and UCLA plays fourth-seeded Navy (24-10).
USC, the 1998 NCAA champion, finished fifth in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament with a 7-6 victory over Stanford Sunday. UCLA won the MPSF tournament with a 6-5 win over California.
The national-title and third-place matches will be played Sunday.
