SEASON AT A GLANCE: Owen has won eight of 10 races and led Nordhoff to the Southern Section Division III title on Nov. 18 and to a runner-up finish behind Felton San Lorenzo Valley in the state championships on Saturday.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Owen won the Division III race of the state meet with a 17:46 clocking over the 5,000-meter course at Woodward Park in Fresno. The time moved her to seventh on the all-time course list for freshmen and was 1:28 faster than she ran over the same layout while finishing eighth in the large-schools race of the Clovis Invitational on Oct. 7. “I thought about [winning the race] a lot,” Owen said. “But I also told myself that I’m a freshman and if I don’t win, there’s always next year.”
