City Will Study Steel Sound Wall
The City Council has commissioned a study of Anaheim’s plans for a steel sound wall along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks north of the Riverside Freeway.
Responding to residents’ complaints about the project, the council voted to pay Mestre Greve Associates $4,080 to study the proposal and draft a critique.
Anaheim officials have said the steel wall, to be built on Anaheim’s side of the railroad tracks, would not only block train noise from coming into Anaheim Hills but would also absorb sounds that would otherwise affect Yorba Linda residents. The wall would contain perforations designed to prevent sound from deflecting off the structure, Anaheim officials said.
Yorba Linda residents, however, claim the wall would increase train noise on their side of the tracks. They also expressed concern that it would attract graffiti.
