Transient, 41, Killed When Struck by Car
THOUSAND OAKS — A 41-year-old transient was killed Tuesday evening when struck by a car while he apparently was jaywalking across Hillcrest Drive, authorities said.
The victim, who police did not identify pending notification of his family, died at the scene. The driver of the car, Cass A. Paley, 52, of Thousand Oaks suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital and released.
Authorities said the man was crossing Hillcrest Drive near Glenwood Place shortly before 6 p.m. when he was struck by Paley’s 1996 Volvo.
Authorities were investigating whether alcohol consumption by the victim was a factor in the accident, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Patti Salas said.
