Canyons 21, Valley 20--Stephen Stokes scored on a six-yard run with 1:22 left and the Cougars blocked Juan Ozuna’s 49-yard field-goal attempt as time expired in a WSC Northern Division game at Valley.
Canyons (9-1, 6-1) tied for its first conference championship since 1975.
Stokes finished with 124 yards and one touchdown in 21 carries, including 47 yards in the final nine-play drive.
Ozuna’s 38-yard field goal with 11:29 remaining gave the Monarchs (2-8, 2-5) a 20-14 lead. Ozuna missed on three other attempts.
Dallas Encoh of Valley completed 19 of 28 passes for 178 yards, including a five-yard touchdown pass to Tim Wilson. Daniel Schneider had six catches for 93 yards.
Valley capitalized on two interceptions of passes by Travis Winn.
Julian Battle of Valley returned a blocked punt 11 yards for a touchdown and Ozuna kicked a 20-yard field goal to give Valley a 17-7 halftime lead.
