Fillmore Unified School District trustees ratified a contract raising teachers’ pay to the Ventura County average.
The contract raises salaries another 7.83%, bringing the total annual increase to 14.6%. Trustees approved an initial 6.83% increase in July.
Susan Dollar, director of personnel for the district, said the board had to wait until a final state budget had been adopted before agreeing to the second phase of the increase.
“You never know how much money you are going to have until the governor gets done,” Dollar said.
Under the contract, new teachers will start at $35,250 and 10-year veterans will make $53,630.
