A private reception on Thursday will honor two retired Leisure World residents who have devoted their lives to work in the social services.
Residents Helen Mills Lindsey and James Slavin will be recognized for their years of commitment during the event, hosted by the Laguna Woods Department of Social Services as part of National Social Workers Month.
John Oliver, director of the department of social work at Cal State Long Beach, will be the keynote speaker.
The reception is designed for social workers in the community and is not open to the public.
