Barkley Set for NBA Draft

Erick Barkley will forgo his final two years of eligibility at St. John’s and make himself eligible for the NBA draft, sources told the Associated Press Saturday.
Barkley, whose sophomore season was marred by two suspensions for NCAA violations, will make the announcement Tuesday.
Barkley met with family members and advisors Saturday as he made his decision. Coach Mike Jarvis was supposed to attend the meeting, but was in Washington planning his daughter’s wedding.
Earlier this week, Barkley reportedly brought an agent, Andy Miller, to a meeting with Jarvis to discuss his plans. Miller said he was serving as an advisor to Barkley, which is not against NCAA rules, but the meeting could raise questions with the organization.
