Election Article on Rogan

* Re “Rogan-Schiff Battle for Fall Votes Begins,” March 9.
I found your article tendentiously liberal. The overall message and tone were decidedly anti-Rogan. I refuse to believe that this was unintentional.
You chose to frame [Rep. James E.] Rogan’s involvement with [President] Clinton’s impeachment as an assumed negative rather than as something neutral or positive. Why didn’t you mention whether [state Sen. Adam] Schiff agreed that Clinton’s violations of law warranted impeachment as did the majority of Americans? Why not reiterate that many wealthy Hollywood moguls are targeting Rogan for defeat through financial means in retribution for his service as a House manager?
It is an ironic hallmark of liberals to illiberally quash the opponent by any means necessary, reasoning that the ends justify the means. Often this involves abuse of power. You have power as [journalists who purport] to render a balanced, unbiased account of the facts. You abuse that power and violate the trust of readers when you allow your assumptions and political predilections to color a story. You are guilty of voter tampering when you do it to influence elections.
