The city is closely watching how its neighbors handle traffic enforcement to help determine whether to install cameras to catch motorists running red lights.
Orange County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Paul Ratchford, Dana Point’s chief of police services, is recommending that the City Council delay a decision on conducting a feasibility study for six months.
According to a Dana Point staff report, the delay will allow the city to monitor programs in Irvine, Garden Grove and San Juan Capistrano before making a decision.
