Palmdale Plays Ace and Wins

Matt Harrington allowed two hits in five innings and Palmdale High downed Monroe, 4-0, Friday in a San Fernando tournament game at Monroe.
Harrington (2-0), a right-hander rated the No. 4 high school prospect in the nation by Baseball America, struck out 10.
Chris Niemeyer had two hits for Palmdale, ranked No. 7 in the region by The Times.
Westlake 10, South Gate 2--Jesse Kozlowski allowed one earned run and had nine strikeouts in six innings for the Warriors in a victory at Westlake.
Kozlowski (1-0), ranked among the top 100 high school players by Baseball America, had two hits and two runs scored.
Allen Osborne and Cory Taillon hit two-run home runs during a six-run second for Westlake (4-0), ranked No. 1 in the region.
Granada Hills 10, Glendale 5--Edward Degerman (1-0) gave up three hits and one earned run in 5 1/3 innings of relief, striking out four for the Highlanders at Glendale.
John Voita hit a three-run home run in the first and finished with two hits for Granada Hills. Ryan Braun had two hits, including a solo home run in the second.
Van Nuys 14, Burbank 11--Matt Jordan had two hits and two RBIs as the Wolves won at Burbank.
Roger Acuna hit two home runs and a double, and drove in five runs for Burbank (1-3).
Antelope Valley 10, Grant 8--Jorge Flores hit a three-run home run in a five-run first inning for the Antelopes in a victory at Grant.
Jordy Carlon had three hits for Antelope Valley (3-1).
Birmingham 8, Quartz Hill 4--Junior Garcia allowed one earned run and six hits in six innings for the Patriots at Birmingham.
Lucio Tapia had a double and three RBIs for Birmingham (3-1).
WESTSIDE TOURNAMENT
Newbury Park 12, Bishop Montgomery 0--Tyler T. Smith pitched a one-hitter and struck out three for the Panthers at Newbury Park.
David Hicks had a home run and three RBIs for Newbury Park (2-1).
Alemany 8, Channel Islands 4--Bret Baker hit two run-scoring doubles to help the Indians (1-2-1) win at Alemany.
Hueneme 13, Beverly Hills 8--Mike Serrata hit a three-run triple in a seven-run second that carried the Vikings at Hueneme.
Jaime Martinez hit two-run doubles in the second and fifth innings for Hueneme (2-2).
EL SEGUNDO TOURNAMENT
Crespi 12, El Segundo 4--Dale Legaspi pitched 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief, striking out four, to save the Celts’ victory in the quarterfinals at Valley College.
Crespi (3-0), ranked No. 5, plays Banning in the semifinals today.
GLENDORA TOURNAMENT
Glendora 9, Crescenta Valley 7--John Barbaro hit his third home and Jeff Dunn had three hits but the Falcons (2-1) lost in the semifinals at Henderson Field.
