MIDWAY CITY

An old-fashioned community cleanup will be held March 18, with food, refreshments, music and plenty of volunteers.
The project, part of the county’s effort to revitalize dozens of tiny, often blighted unincorporated islands, is a partnership with the Board of Supervisors, law enforcement, residents and local businesses. Cleanup hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Neighbors will take part in graffiti removal and trash pickup with the help of the Orange County Conservation Corps and work crews from the Probation Department. In addition, Children’s Hospital of Orange County will provide free immunizations at Midway City Community Center, 14900 Park Lane.
The event is sponsored by Board Chairman Charles V. Smith and Supervisor Cynthia Coad. The task force consists of the sheriff’s, probation, planning, housing and social services departments.
